July 4, 2009 TMO: First off thanks for taking time out of your day to allow The Monthly Online this opportunity. I am a big fan of yours and the entire Shady camp! With that said, how are you today, here and now?
Q&A // Cashis aka: The Shady Capo

Cashis: Thank yall man, I appreciate the opportunity to speak with u, and speak to the fans. I'm doin pretty well, recording feverishly, so that's always a good sign.
TMO: Ok so first and foremost I understand you were born in Chicago and now reside on the West Coast. Is that accurate?
Cashis: That's 100% correct...
TMO: Can you tell me a little about your upcoming in the streets of Chicago? Who were some of your influences, either locally or nationally?
Cashis: My upbringing was the worst and the best thing that could've happened to me. It gave me, all that I write abot... My musical influences, were Michael Jackson and alot of R&B, that's why I don't structure my records like a normal rapper would... I rely on my voice creating the medley, and the beat, is a add on. If ur words and delivery are on point, the rest will fall in place automatically.
TMO: So, I read your story of signing with Shady Aftermath and I must say it's amazing. Can you tell me again how you ended up signing with Shady Aftermath?
Cashis: Dope... I signed with Shady off the strength of a demo, sent by Richard Spoon, my manager at the time, Dart
Parker, my homebwoi and A&R, Tracy and her instinct to play the music in front of Marshall, Marshall,4 actually being a fan of hip hop and believing in me from day 1, and last but not least, 2 Paul for making my dream come true, and 4 giving me a pen and a pad, and jus letten me do me, now it all makes sense...
TMO: You go by "The Shady Capo" right? Did Em give you that name?
Cashis: Yes, that's 1 of my many aka's.... I wrote it n a song 4the Loose Camnon LP, in Detroit, and Em said run with that, and take it 2 the streets... And I gladly did.
TMO: I heard you helped to influence Eminem's recent super comeback. Can you tell me about that a little bit
Cashis: We all influence each other, to compete at the highest level possible... So, it's a good feeling, to know, what I did, impressed him, and helped feed his drive to come back on top of the world, jus like he left...
TMO: Your 2007 Album County Hound was a limited edition project. Tell me more about that if you do not mind. What was the mind set about limiting the number of copies?
Cashis: Countyhound, was hands the best ep, I've heard in years... It actually created the buzz I have now... Some people, can see my progression as a person and a artist from then to now, and some people jus got hip to me in the past year, to where they are core fans now. We limited the amount of copies so, that it would b a tool, in establishing me as a artist, with a career, instead of jus 1 project...
TMO: So from "CountyHound" I was really feeling the entire project but I want to say two song titles and get your perspective on them for fans to understand more.
Cashis: Thank u, cool
TMO: Thoughts OF Suicide....
Cashis: Is a definite clear picture, of part of my dail stress. When I'm not in a manic state of mind, I often dream or think of suicide or my demise. And those questions, I usually refrain from sharing with the world... But, at that moment, the beat, and my honest depression, created the perfect way for me to convey my true thoughts.
TMO: Ms. Jenkins....
Cashis: That one is my ticket to heaven... My heart was heavy, abot certain things, that have taken place in my life. And that record, purified my soul. That's like my grimey version of confessions.. God bless u Ms. Jenkins... Thanks 4 ur forgiveness.
TMO: Did you personally have a favorite track on "CountyHound"
Cashis: I love performing, the 2 u mentioned, I go into anutha world, performing those... The EP, I jus press play bro... Concrete Jungle, is 1 of my favorites tho..
TMO: That’s whats up, I feel good when I pick the same favorite as the artist. I don’t want to offend people, you know picking a track that isn’t their favorite. So moving forward, Your latest project "The Leak" is off the chain. Tell me about this project and who you collaborated with on it?
Cashis: Thanks... It's a bunch of freestyles, showen that I'm focused and hungry again... 4 awhile, I fell Bacc 4rom recording, and fell into the same trap, that consumed my life since a kid, and that's all my focus was on... 3 cases and 1 botched hit, and thousands of dollars in legal fees later, here I am... That's the leak... Jus, Pete G on the mix, Rikanatti on the original traccs, and the world in front of me, as I deliver the truth that I know.
TMO: If you don't mind I want to similarly mention a few tracks and let you tell, rather than me ask, if that is ok
Cashis: Cool...
Set Down....
Rikanatti beat, he's my favorite on the beats. And I got a chance to touch up on some of my uh, current events, we could say...
C Me Rollen Up....
It's my first fun record, with no violence in awhile, Once again, Rikanatti, had a shell of a beat, I spit b4 the beat was done, we smoked a quad, and the hook came out....
TMO: Did you have any favorite tracks from "The Leak"
Cashis: Hypnotiq n Chronic... I really really like that record
Cashis: Yeah man, I appreciate that.... What's crazy is, all my bread goes to recording. I don't even have Internet at either of my cribs, so I actually hear the feedback from word of mouth... That showed me how strong digital media truly is... It keeps me relevant, to myself and to the people, without me even haven Internet capabilities... I am extremely grateful 4 that, and I will only release quality product, so that won't change 4 me. Thank everybody online. The journalists and the bloggers, u are the new voice of the street musically, we checc with you to see what's raw and who's lame, and that opinion surfaces across the globe.
TMO: Ok honestly, are there too many rappers in the world today, or does that actually help grow the genre and music in general?
Cashis: In my honest opinion. Yes... But, not because they are wacc, it's because errbody is Lil Wayne so much, that it makes the street artist do strictly top 40 tunes... I would expect that, and appreciate that, 4rom Nelly or Florida, but not 4 dudes who's whole m.o. is comen up like I did, if that's true, you wouldn't b comfortable recording and releasing that material... I think Hov made DOA for me... I been on that, and haven't changed to adjust to the fad. Only lil dicc dudes can wear skinny jeans, that's y hip hop went baggy... I stay n all blacc, like the hot boys used 2 b... Jordans on everyday. Maybe stereotypical of a rapper, but it is the fashion of the hip hop that I know and represent. No disrespect, intended. But, nobody I know, can afford to party and live in a, I wish I had money like they are in a 50 cent fantasy... We respect those who really got it like that, but, if u got rent, groceries and light bills due, and u go hit the club spenden bread a week b4 the first of the month, ur an idiot. 2 pretend ball, 2 impress, some Otha broke mufuccas like us... And that's the new format 4 radio play, inflated net worth, and rhymes abot colorful clothes and no ambition, lame
TMO: You have done quite a view Q&A and interviews before so I want to ask, what is the one question you would ask Cashis if you were in my position?
Cashis: Have u taken ur crazy meds 2day, b4 we start... Lol, that's what I would ask
TMO: That is hilarious. I took mine, so I was able to focus through this whole thing! Remember that question because I am going to start with it next time when we get our film hardware right! Speaking of, I also saw you had some other things in the works online, that being Bogish TV and Beat Lounge Radio. Tell fans about that, when to tune in and all that? How is it
Cashis: Bbg internet radio. The #1 show on beatloungeradio.com, Wednesday nite from 8-12pm,pst... Get to hear me and the squad, playen music, u would actually listen to and enjoy, plus x rated commentary, special guests, current events, and live call ins. And bogish brand tv, go to cashisonline.com, and c me do my own reality tv, in the hood, the burbs, u Neva know, what or where it's Gunna b... But, it's always worth thewatch....
TMO: So I know Shady Records is a very digitally friendly label, if not the most digitally friendly label. Whether you on the net or not, they will be SURE your music is huh? So with that said what are the correct sites for fans to find you and sample your music.
Cashis: Well in addition to cashisonline.com also hit me up on my myspace at myspace.com/cashisoc , or my twitter twitter.com/therealcashis, and cashismusic.com
TMO: Yeah, man your myspace page is hot. I am such a dork huh? Let me stop(but it really is so go see).Ok so this is something new we have been playing around with, if you would like to, fill in the blank.

TMO: Dude I really almost fell off the chair in laughter. We have a few commonalities there. Ok so what are your thoughts on a few things like
-IRAN PROTESTING
Cashis: Everybody has the right to voice their opinion, stand up for what you believe in Tehran. Change only comes to those who first change themselves.
-SC GOVERNOR MARK SANFORD CHEATING WITH THAT LATINA
Cahsis: I struggle with infidelity myself, but I'm not married. I figure, what he does at work is the only thing that affects me, the rest is up to his wife, kids and moral code. If the lady helped him to function better, and b a success, I say go 4 it, control the coochie, don't let it control u, pow... Lol, capo cashis
